{"id":867,"date":"2017-05-26T14:22:29","date_gmt":"2017-05-26T13:22:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/parkvintners.co.uk\/blog\/?p=867"},"modified":"2017-05-26T14:22:29","modified_gmt":"2017-05-26T13:22:29","slug":"tinkerbell-effect-proven-provence-rose-and-little-bird-gin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parkvintners.co.uk\/blog\/?p=867","title":{"rendered":"Tinkerbell Effect Proven, Provence Ros\u00e9 and Little Bird Gin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fellow Wine Lovers,<\/p>\n<p>No, no please, don\u2019t be silly, there\u2019s no need to thank us, it\u2019s you who made this happen, we were just doing our job and we\u2019re simply delighted that you can benefit from the fruits of your own labours&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>If you recall, last week we wrote:<\/p>\n<p><em>Oh, for crying out loud, when is it all going to end?\u00a0 Months we\u2019ve been waiting for a glimmer of hope, a ray of sunshine, a jacket-free day.\u00a0 We\u2019ve had a couple of nice half-days dotted around&#8230;. Perhaps it\u2019s time for the Tinkerbell effect to step in \u2013 if we all start drinking Ros<\/em><em>\u00e9<\/em><em>, having barbecues, arranging picnics and cricket matches, then the sun might start to get the message.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And you heard our call to arms.\u00a0 In spite of the fact that jeans and sweaters were still the uniform on Saturday, you did us proud.\u00a0 You bought ros\u00e9 purely on the basis that we suggested you should, we could smell the barbecue smoke and hear the sizzling steaks from late afternoon and we could hear laughter and the clinking of glasses and the crashing of cricket balls clattering into greenhouses\u2013 people, you were outside, in spite of the weather, metaphorically applauding with all your might to show a small fictitious fairy that you believe in her.<\/p>\n<p>And what happened next?<\/p>\n<p>Blazing sunshine on Sunday.\u00a0 Admittedly, a bit muggy on Monday and Tuesday but I think there was more activity in the gyms of SW19 than carousing in the garden.\u00a0 Scorching on Wednesday and back on track, as the fridges began emptying once more.\u00a0 Similar but better on Thursday, in all respects.\u00a0 Today, mostly sunny and pleasantly warm (27c!) according to a very understated accuweather report \u2013 fridges full, until the schools are out at least!\u00a0 And, dare I say it, it looks like it might continue into the BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND but only if you keep on taking the medicine!<\/p>\n<p>To do our bit to help, we will be opening:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chateau de L\u2019Aumerade \u2018Cuv\u00e9e Marie-Christine\u2019 2016 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>C\u00f4tes de Provence Cru Class\u00e9 \u00a313.99 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>or <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A rather splendid offer of Six Bottles for \u00a372<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Chateau de L\u2019Aumerade is a 400 year old vineyard in the heart of Provence. Its red soils are rich in minerals, giving it an edge on the quality stakes amongst its neighbours. This edge was recognised in 1956 when the estate was designated \u201cCru Class\u00e9\u201d. \u00a0A lovely pale salmon colour, it is indeed cracking stuff with delicate red berry fruits, slightly floral and an impressively long finish.\u00a0 The perfect wine for summer, great with all manner of food, or just with a deck chair and a smile!\u00a0 Our bestselling wine, overall, for the last few years \u2013 we are already outstripping last year\u2019s sales and we haven\u2019t had any \u2018real\u2019 weather yet!<\/p>\n<p>When Wayne is not out and about tasting wine, cycling, holidaying, camping, ironing shirts or drinking beer, he does spend a large portion of his time here, in the shop, selling wine.\u00a0 Oh, and Gin.\u00a0 As a result of his plentiful interactions with all things juniper, last year we listed a Gin from Peckham \u2013 Little Bird.\u00a0 Laura from Little Bird has created a small batch gin with a seductive pink-grapefruit nose and a fresh juniper and citrus tang on the palate that gives way to luscious, velvety orange peel with an underlying sweetness and zesty finish.\u00a0 That\u2019s what she told us when we first met her and, to be honest, she wasn\u2019t wrong.<\/p>\n<p>If you would rather make up your own mind though, Laura will be in the shop in two weeks time, on Friday 9<sup>th<\/sup> June from about 5.30pm we believe, tossing around cocktail shakers and wearing an ironic beard and topknot.\u00a0 Or perhaps, not \u2013 either way come and visit and enjoy the finest thing out of Peckham since, well, ever!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Laura \u2013 Little Bird \u2013 Friday 9<sup>th<\/sup> June \u2013 5.30pm \u2013 don\u2019t worry, we\u2019ll remind you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For those of you \u2018blessed\u2019 with half term next week, good luck.\u00a0 As half term encompasses a bank holiday on Monday our opening hours are slightly different his weekend:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday \u2013 10am \u2013 6pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday &amp; Monday \u2013 CLOSED<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday \u2013 Business as usual <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But, ideally, you\u2019ll all be on a beach in Cornwall, so this shouldn\u2019t affect you.\u00a0 Ideal.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you keeping the lights on here, alongside the fabulous Ros\u00e9 on tasting, we will be opening a nice barbecue red, <strong>Three Peaks 2014 \u00a312.99<\/strong>, from our chums at <strong>Domaine Treloar<\/strong>. \u00a0The vineyard is overlooked by three Pyrenean peaks, hence the name, and the wine is a classy blend of Syrah, Mourv\u00e8dre and Grenache. \u00a0Rich and spicy from the 12 months spent in used French oak barrels, it shows lovely crushed forest fruit character, a touch of earthy minerality and maybe even a hint of leather. \u00a0Perfect with some seared barbecued treats!<\/p>\n<p>Now that\u2019s it from us \u2013 it\u2019s been a horrible week, so if you do one thing this weekend then please, raise a glass to absent friends \u2013 Valete!<\/p>\n<p>Wayne &amp;
