{"id":745,"date":"2016-07-08T13:33:44","date_gmt":"2016-07-08T12:33:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/parkvintners.co.uk\/blog\/?p=745"},"modified":"2016-07-08T13:33:44","modified_gmt":"2016-07-08T12:33:44","slug":"weather-wine-school-and-tennis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parkvintners.co.uk\/blog\/?p=745","title":{"rendered":"Weather, wine school and tennis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fellow Wine Lovers,<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve long believed that, should the world become teetotal and there be a need for us to find other employ, the realm of weather forecasting wouldn\u2019t be a bad place to start.\u00a0 We spend more time than you might imagine, even as Englishmen, discussing the current weather, the future weather and telling witty tales of weather we have enjoyed a great deal in the past.\u00a0 We are, as you can tell, very, very Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roll.\u00a0 In our defence, the weather does have a direct impact on our business \u2013 a rainy Monday in May yields few customers but stick a bit of sunshine in the sky at around 6pm and suddenly the gym seems less enticing than a glass of Ros\u00e9 in the garden.<\/p>\n<p>So, with this in mind we looked at our two most regular influencers \u2013 the BBC and Accuweather \u2013 to see what might be going on this weekend.\u00a0 As we all now know, weather forecasts are much like inspections led by Hans Blix \u2013 they\u2019re interesting studies but only of relevance if they say what we want them to say.\u00a0 So we gave the weekend weather the Blair treatment:<\/p>\n<p><u>Friday 8th July<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Accuweather &#8211; 22\u00b0\/14\u00b0C &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Partly<\/span> <strong>sunny<\/strong>, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">a few showers<\/span><\/p>\n<p>BBC &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Rather cloudy with showery rain, perhaps heavy at times, especially across northern parts in the morning.<\/span> Becoming drier in the afternoon with some <strong>brighter spells<\/strong> possible later.<\/p>\n<p>Park Vintners \u2013<strong> Bright and Sunny<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Saturday 9th July <\/u><\/p>\n<p>Accuweather &#8211; 23\u00b0\/17\u00b0 &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Variable clouds; breezy, humid<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>BBC &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Cloudy and muggy but most likely<\/span> <strong>dry on Saturday<\/strong>, and turning breezier.<\/p>\n<p>Park Vintners \u2013 Nice and warm with a refreshing breeze<\/p>\n<p><u>Sunday 10th July<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Accuweather &#8211; 22\u00b0 \/15\u00b0 &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Partly<\/span> <strong>sunny<\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">with a shower<\/span><\/p>\n<p>BBC &#8211; Rain overnight and muggy conditions should clear during Sunday, becoming <strong>fresher with sunshine <\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">and scattered showers into Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Park Vintners \u2013<strong> Sunny sunshine Sunday<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, it\u2019s going to be an absolutely glorious weekend, with sunshine in abundance \u2013 a weekend that Alex and I will nostalgically discuss for years to come!<\/p>\n<p><u>Sunny weekend = sunny wines!<\/u><\/p>\n<p>In order to fully appreciate the glorious weather we thought we should get some wines open.\u00a0 ON a complete whim last week, Alex decided to buy some Edelzwicker.\u00a0 I know, sounds uncomfortable.\u00a0 Anyway, he has been rattling on about this style of wine for more years than I can bear to recall, ever since he had a bottle in his father-in-laws back garden.\u00a0 It was, apparently, a beautiful summers day and this quaffing blend from the Alsace (Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, Riesling) went down a treat over lunch.\u00a0 I told you we had weather related anecdotes.\u00a0 Anyway, long story short, he saw some for sale, fell foul of a salesman\u2019s pitch and a pretty label and before I could stop the cheque, he had 4 dozen bottles sitting in the shop.<\/p>\n<p>Pretty label or not, it is delicious and I already think we might need to order more \u2013 <strong>Edelzwicker Vin d\u2019Alsace \u00a39.99.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pretty as the white is, I feel we might need to have a red with a bit of backbone to go with all these barbecues we\u2019ll be lighting over the next few days.\u00a0 <strong>Bodegas Farina Gran Colegiata Tinto Roble 2012 &#8211;
