{"id":677,"date":"2015-12-18T12:57:25","date_gmt":"2015-12-18T11:57:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/parkvintners.co.uk\/blog\/?p=677"},"modified":"2016-01-08T12:59:05","modified_gmt":"2016-01-08T11:59:05","slug":"twas-the-night-before-christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parkvintners.co.uk\/blog\/?p=677","title":{"rendered":"Twas the night before Christmas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fellow Wine Lovers,<\/p>\n<p>Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house<\/p>\n<p>Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.<\/p>\n<p>The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,<\/p>\n<p>In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The children were nestled all snug in their beds,<\/p>\n<p>While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.<\/p>\n<p>And mamma in her \u2018kerchief, and I in my cap,<\/p>\n<p>Had just settled our brains for a long winter\u2019s nap.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When out of the dawn there arose such a thought,<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d left it to late and no wine had I bought.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily for me twas just a bad dream,<\/p>\n<p>And the Saturday before, to Park Vintners I\u2019d been.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So with our apologies to Clement Clarke Moore, we\u2019ll be pulling corks on\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hoffman &amp; Rathbone Ros\u00e9 Reserve 2011 &#8211; \u00a338.00<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Award winning English bubbles on a Saturday before Christmas \u2013 what\u2019s not to like?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stephane Aladame Montagny 1er Cru Selection Vieilles Vignes 2012 &#8211; \u00a325.99<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>St\u00e9phane Aladame is one of the rising stars of the younger generation of French vignerons, already attracting a considerable amount of attention in France\u2026<\/p>\n<p>This wine is from his oldest vines, 50% fermented in oak barrels and 50% in stainless steel vats. Crisp, medium-bodied, with a vibrant, intense core of citrus and stone fruit alongside a firm mineral zip that continues through the long finish. Delicious for drinking now and over the next couple of years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fattoria Le Corti Principe Corsini Cortevecchia Chianti Classico 1996 Toscana &#8211; \u00a330.99<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>A fourteenth century estate, still in the hands of the original family, that produces critically acclaimed wine year in year out. Sometimes they keep some back and release it as a \u2018museum\u2019 release. This is one of those, lovely rounded and complex with that mixture of fruit and secondary characters, drinking beautifully!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Diane de Belgrave 2010 Haut-M\u00e9doc &#8211; \u00a322.49<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is the very classy second wine of Chateau Belgrave, a fifth growth in Haut-M\u00e9doc. It\u2019s 52% Merlot and 41% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance made up of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Rich with raspberry and blackberry notes, a touch of liquorice and some fine polished tannins.
