Fellow Wine Lovers,<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018Start spreading the news, I\u2019m leaving today….\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n That\u2019s all I heard yesterday from Wayne.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Oh, and Fly me to the Moon, My Way, Love and Marriage, Strangers in the Night<\/i> to name a few others.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Then he would do a slightly odd hipsway, tip an imaginary fedora, break out the jazz hands and round it all off with the question \u2018do you think I look like Dad?\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n I blame Ronan Farrow.\u00a0 <\/span>Ever since Wayne read his tweet on Wednesday stating:<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>\u2018Listen, we\u2019re all *possibly* Frank Sinatra\u2019s son.<\/i><\/b>\u2019 <\/span><\/p>\n He has been convinced of this possibility.\u00a0 <\/span>He rang his Mum to double check \u2013 her immediate denial being seen by him as being a little too convincing, her \u2018don\u2019t be daft, you plonker!\u2019<\/i> a little too forced, and her \u2018I\u2019ve never been to America and I don\u2019t think Frank ever came to Leigh-on-sea\u2019 <\/i>the final proof, if any was needed, of intimacy \u2013 she\u2019d called him Frank!<\/span><\/p>\n Perhaps now you can all understand the stresses of the Park Vintner\u2019s workplace \u2013 a place where I am forced to work with a fabulist that makes up tall tales and fantasies without blinking an eye….<\/span><\/p>\n Back in the real world<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Speaking of Twitter you may remember a little while back the #moutardroutard<\/b> competition we launched \u2013 the last day for entries was Monday 30th<\/sup> September.\u00a0 <\/span>On Tuesday, we assembled a crack team of art critics (or to be more accurate Brian Sewell walked past the shop) and got down to the judging process.\u00a0 <\/span>Imagine our surprise when we discovered that our wives had won the bottles of Champagne – and only one of them had even entered!!<\/span><\/p>\n Smelling a rat we convened a second hanging committee and came up with two winners.\u00a0 <\/span>The first was the lady who managed to tweet a photo, within an hour of our first launching the competition, from Westward Ho! \u2013 very impressed that she had packed bubbly and also delighted she read our email!<\/span><\/p>\n The other bottle goes to the family who transported a bottle to Turkey, proceeded to win a tennis competition and then celebrated with Moutard out of paper Pepsi cups.\u00a0 <\/span>Kudos.<\/span><\/p>\n So we have Moutard waiting here for the two winners \u2013 hopefully they know who they are…<\/span><\/p>\n Forthcoming tastings<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n As mentioned last week, we have put some dates in the diary and it seems you have also put dates in your dairies.\u00a0 <\/span>The Christmas Wine & Cheese<\/b> affair and the Sparkling wine and Champagne<\/b> event on Thursday 5th<\/sup> December<\/b> are completely sold out<\/b>, and the other tasting \u2013 Bordeaux on Thursday 14th<\/sup> November<\/b> is half full.\u00a0 <\/span>As usual we\u2019ll start at 8pm here in the shop and the cost is \u00a315. <\/span><\/p>\n Call us on 020 8944 5224<\/b> to grab one of the remaining slots…<\/span><\/p>\n Chocolate Block 2011<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Our supplier has a hard time with his stock control clearly.\u00a0 <\/span>We have just received 30 bottles of this wine \u2013 something we thought had sold out.\u00a0 <\/span>Not to worry though, it\u2019s nice to have it back on the shelf!\u00a0 <\/span>Still retailing at 2,299p.<\/span><\/p>\n Tasting this weekend<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Frank Jr is in charge this weekend and, given his current state of mind, we should probably be showing the Smoking Loon<\/b> wines, but we won\u2019t mock the afflicted.\u00a0 <\/span>Instead we\u2019ll be showing Manawa Riesling 2011 from Marlborough, New Zealand <\/b>(\u00a312.49) and the newly returned The Crusher Pinot Noir 2012 from Clarksburg, California <\/b>(\u00a313.29).<\/span><\/p>\n And finally, Mia Farrow…<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n … who has been the unwitting inspiration for this email.\u00a0 <\/span>All this *possibly* malarkey came about as a result of Vanity Fair talking to her and 8 of her 14 adopted and biological children.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
