{"id":1399,"date":"2021-04-01T17:44:53","date_gmt":"2021-04-01T16:44:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/parkvintners.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1399"},"modified":"2021-04-01T17:44:53","modified_gmt":"2021-04-01T16:44:53","slug":"melagiu-diena","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parkvintners.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1399","title":{"rendered":"Melagiu Diena!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Fellow Wine Lovers,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just a quickie this week and a day early, too &#8211; judging from sales this week, I can see how eager you all are to get out into those gardens and pop some corks, so I shan\u2019t dally!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First up, opening hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This bank holiday weekend is a funny one, usually it\u2019s just me and the man from Dalchini playing dominoes in the middle of the street as you all evacuate to bonnier climes far, far away.&nbsp; This year however, is different and as a consequence of you all staying around, domino tournaments are suspended until May.&nbsp; In the meantime, I thought I\u2019d let you know when we\u2019ll be open:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Today, Thursday 1<sup>st<\/sup> April \u2013 now until 7pm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday 2<sup>nd<\/sup> April \u2013 12pm \u2013 3pm \u2013 a short day just in case you need a bottle for lunchtime<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Saturday 3<sup>rd<\/sup> April \u2013 12pm \u2013 6pm \u2013 plenty of time to stock up before we close for 2 days<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sunday 4<sup>th<\/sup> April\/Monday 5<sup>th<\/sup> April \u2013 CLOSED<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tuesday 6<sup>th<\/sup> April \u2013 Back to \u2018normal\u2019\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just as a memo to all this, I shan\u2019t be able to make any deliveries on Friday due to the fact that the Volvo is a bit poorly and also Wayne is going to be busy at home with his latest side project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After an umpteen of years talking about it he has finally got round to making his own wine, a red wine made exclusively from white grapes.&nbsp; Key to the blend are Muskat Alarff, Tsallalie and the Lithuanian grape Melagiu Diena.&nbsp; How he has managed to get the white wine grapes to produce red wine is a mystery to me but I imagine it must have to do with the prevalence of cochineal bugs, imported from Mexico to his vineyard in Balham that are accidentally crushed in the picking process (see, it\u2019s really nigh on impossible to get a 100% vegan wine!).&nbsp; Anyway, a red wine from white grapes named <em>Red Wayne 20\/20<\/em> \u2013 perfect for the Italian seasonal speciality Pesce d\u2019Aprile\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gibberish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyway, I said this would be short and sweet, so let\u2019s make it so.&nbsp; Let\u2019s also make it an email that doesn\u2019t contain serious reference to Covid, bike racing, cricket or rugby, politics or European vaccine policy\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And with that, I\u2019m gone \u2013 have a wonderful Easter break and let\u2019s all hope it doesn\u2019t snow on your garden parties!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fellow Wine Lovers, Just a quickie this week and a day early, too &#8211; judging from sales this week, I can see how eager you all are to get out into those gardens and pop some corks, so I shan\u2019t dally!
