{"id":1260,"date":"2020-03-20T14:35:33","date_gmt":"2020-03-20T13:35:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/parkvintners.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1260"},"modified":"2020-03-20T14:35:33","modified_gmt":"2020-03-20T13:35:33","slug":"free-local-delivery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parkvintners.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1260","title":{"rendered":"Free Local Delivery"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Fellow Wine\nLovers,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many times over\nthe 9 years that we have been writing this weekly email we have bemoaned the\nfact that there is no good news to comment on.&nbsp;\nOn every one of those occasions we now know that we were spoilt.&nbsp; Today, there really is nothing we can poke a\nstick at and gently mock, so what have we written about in late March over the\nyears \u2013 here\u2019s a snapshot:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>2019\n\u2013 we were about to leave Europe, and then we weren\u2019t.&nbsp; Still, at least that\u2019s all behind us now<\/li><li>2018\n\u2013 we were gearing up for the clocks to change on Sunday and enjoying multiple\nweather forecasts containing the word \u2018sunshine\u2019 \u2013 unlike yesterday<\/li><li>2017\n<em>\u2013 <\/em>the email opened with these lines:<em>Six\nnations is over, England won, though not prettily and by no means easily. It\nseems to this correspondent though, that Mr Jones has the makings of a good\nteam there, tidy up some of the errors and we can look forward to the 2019\nWorld Cup in Japan with some excitement \u2013 <\/em>wise words<em><\/em><\/li><li>2016 \u2013 in a time before DT became POTUS, The Economist\nIntelligence Unit Global Forecasting Service for April 2016 voiced this\nconcern: <em>Apparently, his lack of\nconsistent policies, his consistent hostility towards free trade, China, the\nMiddle East, Mexico and everyone in between, mixed with the previously\ninconceivable fact that he is the Republican frontrunner for Presidential\ncandidate has set some serious alarm bells ringing.<\/em>&nbsp; Why didn\u2019t anyone listen?<em><\/em><\/li><li>2015 &#8211; we got excited when we saw that scientists from\nthe University of Illinois were working on \u201changover free\u201d wine \u2013 obviously not\na great success as we\u2019ve not heard much about it since<em><\/em><\/li><li>2014 \u2013 the lovable rogue Clarissa Dickson-Wright died\nthis week and Vera Lynn revealed that she was going to release a new album in\nJune \u2013 those were definitely different days<em><\/em><\/li><li>2013 &#8211; Girls Aloud announced they were calling it a\nday after all these years \u2013 a nation mourned<em><\/em><\/li><li>2012 \u2013 we got a bit ranty about duty increases on wine\n\u2013 nobody listened, yet again<em><\/em><\/li><li>2011 \u2013 Wayne was on holiday in Antigua, Matt Banahan\nreplaced Mike Tindall in the England back line and fleet-footed David Strettle was\nback on the bench \u2013 all this just makes me feel old!<em><\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So that\u2019s the\npast, what of the future?&nbsp; Absolutely no\nclue I\u2019m afraid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Too many years\nloitering around in the wine trade has led us to believe that Alex is likely to\nbe as fortified as an alcoholic disinfectant and&nbsp; since Wayne fell into a cauldron of Claret as\na baby, we are hoping that these factors will help us to stay healthy, virus\nfree and, as a happy consequence, open for business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clearly, all of\nthe above is out of our control and if we go into lockdown this weekend quite\nwhere that leaves us is anyone\u2019s guess.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>However, we will endeavour to stay open\nas much as we possibly can but if we have to close our doors we would hope to continue\ntrading by offering a free local delivery service.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We imagine it\nwould work along the lines of us saying we will be delivering between 4pm and\n6pm each day and that any orders received before 3pm will be delivered that\nday.&nbsp; This is not our final strategy but\nI imagine we won\u2019t stray far from this plan.&nbsp;\nWe do have a decent level of stock currently and we are told we will\nstill be able to get deliveries etc but sadly we are still in the land of\nanyone\u2019s guess\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our suppliers\nwant to do business, we want to do business, you want to do business \u2013 I\u2019m sure\nwe\u2019ll find a way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CONTACT DETAILS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"mailto:shop@parkvintners.co.uk\"><strong>shop@parkvintners.co.uk<\/strong><\/a><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>020 8944 5224<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The email\napproach is the most reliable by far since we may not be able to get to the\nphone but do call if that is easier.&nbsp; We\ncan then take orders, you can transfer funds by BACS or other means and we can\nthen deliver.&nbsp; Happy days in these\nperhaps not so happy days!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will confirm\nhow this is all going to work as and when.&nbsp;\nIn the meantime, making the assumption that we will be open this weekend\nwe will be tasting the two wines that we have the most stock of right now,\nsince we seem to be selling more by the case than by the bottle this week:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chatelain Desjacques Sauvignon Blanc 2018\n&#8211;
