These things, it would appear, are the secret to a\nlandslide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I looked up Integrity\nin the Cambridge Dictionary: <strong>the quality\nof being honest and having strong moral principles that you refuse to change:<\/strong>\n<em>&#8220;No one doubted that the president\nwas a man of the highest integrity.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>someone&#8217;s high artistic standards or\nstandards of doing their job, and that person&#8217;s determination not to lower\nthose standards:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;Keen to preserve his artistic\nintegrity, he refused several lucrative Hollywood offers.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s hope we\nnow discover some, eh?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the meantime,\nlife moves on regardless and, at the risk of creating minor panic, in just 12\ndays it\u2019s Christmas. The turkey will be going in the oven, you\u2019ll have stood on\nnumerous bits of Lego and be wondering if it\u2019s too soon to open that second\nbottle of champagne: I\u2019d say go ahead, it\u2019d be rude not too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this stage I\nmight just invoke a song about Christmas that seems appropriate (with apologies\nto Frederic Austin)\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>On the first day of Christmas my True\nLove sent to me a partridge in a pear tree <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u2013 <\/em>We\u2019d put a <strong>Faiveley\nMercurey 1er Cru Clos des Myglands (\u00a329.99)<\/strong> with the partridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>On the second day of Christmas my True\nLove sent to me two turtle doves <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u2013 <\/em>We\u2019ll go with <strong>Sylvain\nDussort\u2019s Meursault-like Cuv\u00e9e des Ormes 2016 (\u00a321.99)<\/strong> for the doves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>On the third day of Christmas my true\nlove sent to me three French hens <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u2013 <\/em>We\u2019re suspecting the <strong>JP\nMoueix Saint-Emilion 2015 (Magnum \u00a346)<\/strong> will be just the ticket, let\u2019s face\nit, three hens needs more than a bottle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the risk of\nlabouring a point, we\u2019re of the opinion that if the Ladies are to be dancing\nand the Lords leaping, you may want to enjoy our <strong>Six Bottles of Bollinger for \u00a3210<\/strong> offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s enough\nsinging for one Friday and if you\u2019d heard me sing, it\u2019d definitely be more than\nenough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve been\ndiscussing the merits of seasonal special sandwiches and plan to trial a couple\nover the next week, any top tips greatly received.<strong><br>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tasting This Weekend <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ll be opening <strong>Hawkins\nBros Brut Reserve (\u00a330each or 3 for \u00a375)<\/strong>, a cracking English sparkling wine\nmade at Greyfriars Vineyard near Guildford. A classic cuv\u00e9e, based on vintage\n2014, made and grown on the Hogs Back in Surrey.&nbsp; This is a blend of 56% Chardonnay, 22% Pinot\nNoir and 22% Pinot Meunier and has spent over three years ageing on its lees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ll open <strong>Sylvain\nDussort\u2019s<\/strong> <strong>Bourgogne Blanc<\/strong> <strong>Cuv\u00e9e des Ormes 2016 (\u00a321.99) <\/strong>mentioned\nabove. A classic white burgundy which is, in fact, the estate\u2019s flagship wine. &nbsp;The grapes are hand-harvested from vines from\n35 to over 60 years and the wine is aged for 12 months in barrels on the lees. &nbsp;The wine is racked off once and assembled in a\nsingle vat before bottling. This takes place at between 16 and 18 months,\ndepending on the vintage.
