This week has been\nall about learning life lessons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jurgen Klopp\ndiscovered that playing attacking football against Barcelona has its risks.\nAfter only 18 years in the wine trade Wayne learnt that the bottle wrapping\npaper has a shiny side and a dull side! Alex has learnt that muscles pulled in\nthe gym may affect the effectiveness of his golf swing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also, one of our\nnumber discovered that playing football in your long trousers can lead to\nseparated seams. Apparently dark trousers and coloured underwear make for a\nslightly self-conscious train journey. \nWe\u2019re not sure if the take home here is co-ordinate trousers and\nunderwear colours, or wear suitable sporting equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite local election\ndrubbings, and with European elections in a couple of weeks, not much seems to\nhave been learned on either side of the house in Westminster. The Cabinet\nappears to still be in fiascos of their own making, as does Jeremy Corbyn with\nall his Brexit and anti- Semitism contradictions. On the bright side, a\nYouGov\/Cambridge Globalisation study found that British people are more\npersuaded of the benefits of immigration than any other major European nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We have some\nunexpected news from Suffolk too. Suffolk is a place close to our hearts, we\nboth have chums who live or have lived in the county, and Wayne spent a good\nnumber of summers as a child fishing in the broads, or swimming in the Lido at\nBeccles. Imagine our surprise when reading a Kings College and University of\nSuffolk environmental study which found all the shrimps at 15 locations in\nSuffolk tested positive for cocaine and many for ketamine too! Has Suffolk become\nthe centre of rave culture for sea life perhaps? Has there been some cricket\npre-season training going on? The report\nwas described as \u201csurprising\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019ve also heard\nfrom one of our roving correspondents, this time from Switzerland. It appears\nthat bathing in champagne is really rather yesterday\u2019s news in that locale,\neveryone is showering in Chardonnay these days. He wonders if we shouldn\u2019t be\nstarting a cosmetic arm to the business, perhaps we should investigate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the musical\nfront, Wayne suggests that jazz fans may want to check out BBC4 tonight as\nthey\u2019ll be broadcasting an homage to Jazz 625. Shirley Tetteh, Joshua Redman,\nGregory Porter and Charlie Watts are all lined up to appear in the programme\nshot in black and white.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the wine\nfront our fizzy pink has landed. Domaine\nde Landreau Cremant de Loire Ros\u00e9 Brut NV (\u00a315.99)<\/strong> is in the fridge, on the\nfloor stack, and also in the 6 for the\nprice of 5<\/strong> fizz deal!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beer drinkers\nmight be interested in the arrival of Belleville\nBrewery Spring Break Sour (\u00a32.50)<\/strong> which is a seasonal and frankly\nscrumptious Grapefruit Sour. Grab some while it lasts or else Wayne is\nthreatening to drink it all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tasting This Weekend<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A Bank Holiday\nweekend ahead of us might involve some barbecue, but again it might not. We\nhave chosen a couple of South African wines for tasting, as they\u2019ll certainly\nwork if you do decide to cook outside. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Alex has put\nsome Meerlust Red 2014 (\u00a314.49)<\/strong> in\nthe eto to see how it shapes up, so that\u2019ll be sporting the red shorts.
