Boys<\/em>, hope you all had a\nlovely Easter break \u2013 for those of you who stayed around, wasn\u2019t it\nblissful.&nbsp; Just like a <em>Jubilee<\/em> it was a double <em>Bank Holiday<\/em> and, with so many people\naway, drinking Aumerade Ros\u00e9 all day and waking up the following morning\nwithout a <em>Badhead<\/em>, it was utterly brilliant!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And Arthur Road felt\nlike it had been thrown back to the <em>End\nof a Century<\/em> past, no cars to be seen, families promenading and enjoying\nthe sunshine, children hoop rolling, governesses\u2019 steering first generation\nSilver Cross perambulators towards Wimbledon Park whilst young men laughed,\nsmoked and played croquet.&nbsp; I know, it\nall sounds a bit <em>Far Out<\/em> but as you\nweren\u2019t here you can\u2019t prove me wrong\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back in the real\nworld, the one thing that <em>London Loves<\/em>\nis a bit of disruption and boy have we been getting it.&nbsp; The whole of the District line seemed to be\nshut last weekend and the Extinction Rebellion has developed it\u2019s fascination\nwith gluing a whole range of body parts to inanimate objects to a new\nlevel.&nbsp; However, there was a slight hint\nof <em>Trouble in the Message Centre<\/em> when\nDame Emma Thompson jumped on her plane and flew in to join in the protests\nwhich some saw as arch hypocrisy.&nbsp;\nFrankly darling, I\u2019m rich enough to plant lots of trees so I can do what\nI want really \u2013 no, she didn\u2019t actually say that but you know, makes you\nwonder\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elsewhere it was\nneither <em>Magic America<\/em> for Wal Mart\/Asda\nnor was Sainsbury\u2019s in <em>Clover over Dover<\/em>\nas the Competition and Markets Authority scuppered their plans for merging,\nciting all the obvious reasons that we all thought of when it was first\nmentioned \u2013 a poorer shopping experience, less competition, less choice, global\nhomogenisation.&nbsp; The general consensus was\nthat so far as the shopper would be concerned, so far as future retail is\nconcerned, <em>This Is a Low<\/em> and, as a\nconsequence, should be stifled.&nbsp; Good\nwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back in the\nshop, we\u2019ve been organising our a tasting calendar a bit more, tidying it up a\nbit and adding a couple of things in for all of our enjoyment \u2013 so here\u2019s a\nbrief overview of what is going on over the next few months in the evenings\nwhen the TV gets boring and you fancy a night out\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday 2nd May \u2013 Private Tasting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday 16th May \u2013 Private Tasting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday 23rd May \u2013 WINE &amp; In June?&nbsp;\nAre you mad?&nbsp; It\u2019s bound to\nrain!&nbsp; Well, if it does, we\u2019ll just crank\nthe heaters up and Provence-ify the shop!&nbsp;\n<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>If you love a bit of pink drinking then\ncome along \u2013 we\u2019ll open some bubbles, we\u2019ll show you still wines and we\u2019ll even\nshow you a sweetie! &nbsp;This is bound to\nfill up quickly, you have been warned! <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday 20th June \u2013 WINE &amp; CHEESE\nTASTING &#8211; \u00a320 &#8211; TWO SPACES LEFT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday 27th June \u2013 DOMAINE TRELOAR WITH\nJONATHAN HESFORD &#8211; \u00a320<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Jonathan and Rachel Treloar own and run\nthis small, highly-regarded vineyard and winery in the Roussillon, France&#8217;s\nmost exciting wine region \u2013 we will taste through their range of whites, reds\nand even a sweetie and be able to ask all those daft questions you never\nnormally get the chance to ask a winemaker!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday 18th July \u2013 WINE &amp; CHEESE\nTASTING &#8211; \u00a320<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday 17th October \u2013 DOMAINE TRELOAR\nWITH RACHEL TRELOAR &#8211; \u00a320<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>A second visit from Domaine Treloar and\nwell worth a second go \u2013 we already have people signed up for both!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All these events\ntake place here in the shop, start at 8pm and spaces are limited \u2013 first come,\nfirst served \u2013 payment confirms your seat at the table, Wayne is exceptional in\nhis role as&nbsp; <em>The Debt Collector<\/em>, you have been warned!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday 26<sup>th<\/sup>\/Saturday 27<sup>th<\/sup>\nApril<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, since we\u2019re\ngoing to have wine open this weekend I suppose it counts as a tasting date too\nand as such we can readily reveal what we will be tasting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Domaine Morin-Langaran Cuvee Caroline Picpoul\nde Pinet 2016, France &#8211; \u00a312.49<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Picpoul: a grape\nvariety that has been grown for years on the banks of Lake Thau, in sight of\nthe famous oyster-beds of Bouzigues.&nbsp; The\nvines bask in the sunshine, being gently aired by the salty breeze and thus\nthis wine is unmistakably Mediterranean.&nbsp;\nDomaine Morin-Langaran has been in the same family since 1966 and they\nproduce a classic Picpoul, aged on its fine lees for complexity and the perfect\nmatch to shellfish (oysters perhaps?), grilled fish or just as an aperitif!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Angulo Innocenti Malbec 2016, La\nConsulta, Mendoza, Argentina &#8211; \u00a318.59<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two 19th century\nimmigrants from the Basque country and Tuscany respectively, Pedro Angulo and\nAngel Innocenti, moved to Argentina along with thousands of other European\nsettlers to plant their vines and carve out a living in the vast, dry plains of\nMendoza.&nbsp; This wine is produced by their\ngreat-grandchildren, Mariano and Maria, and is classic La Consulta: very dark,\nopaque purple in colour with an inviting leafy\/curranty nose.&nbsp; Whilst quite plush on the palate, it is tidy\nand precise with very pure fruit and lovely, silky tannins \u2013 very classy\nMalbec.&nbsp; Whilst perhaps it isn\u2019t going to\nbe barbecue weather this weekend, apparently you can also cook steak inside\ntoo!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>And That\u2019s your <em>Lot (105)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It looks like\nwe\u2019ve made it <em>To the End \u2013 <\/em>it was the\n25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the legendary Blur album, <em>Parklife, <\/em>yesterday \u2013 who knew?!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wayne &amp;
