To the\nFrench firefighters who have managed to save far more of the Notre Dame than\nlooked likely when the pictures first came through. Not only is it an integral\npart of the Paris skyline, it is almost part of the very essence of\nFrench-ness, appearing so prominently in both France\u2019s history and literature.\nVictor Hugo will be coming to a best-seller list on Amazon very soon I suspect.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chapeau! &nbsp;Also to Victor Campenaerts who has beaten\nBradley Wiggins Hour Record. He managed to ride a massive 55.089 km at the\nBicentenario Velodrome in Mexico with a perfectly controlled ride. That\u2019s just\nover half a kilometre further than Sir Wiggo. I\u2019m not sure I\u2019ve ever reached\nthat speed on the flat, let alone for an hour!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the Met\noffice is to be believed you\u2019ll be needing your sunhats this weekend if you\u2019re\nstill in Wimbledon Park, we\u2019re expecting 20\u02daC and sunshine, that\u2019s on a par with\nBarcelona and better than Thessaloniki! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following on\nfrom our golf chat last week we couldn\u2019t help but notice Tiger Woods was the\nman who gets to borrow the green jacket for a year.&nbsp; Some of the sports commentators got a little\nover excited with this news and seemed to think it was the \u201cGreatest Comeback\nEver\u201d. I don\u2019t wish to take away from his win, but I would just point out that\ntwo of Greg Lemond\u2019s&nbsp;&nbsp; three Tour de\nFrance victories came after being shot in a hunting accident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In booze news\nAsda has had an oops on the translation front offering it\u2019s Welsh speakers\n\u2018Free Alcohol\u2019 rather than \u2018Alcohol Free\u2019 . It would appear that HMRC is also\nat risk of booze jokes as it appears to be losing entire or large parts of\napplications for new distilleries or excise warehouses! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Happy birthday\nto The Queen, 93 years young on Sunday! Your\nweekend starts here!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where would we\nbe without an open bottle at the weekend? I can\u2019t help but think it might be\nnice to show some solidarity with the French, so in the white corner we\u2019ll\nstart off with <strong>Domaine Alexandre Chablis\n2017 (\u00a319.99)<\/strong> a classic crisp mineral white that we managed to grab a small\nparcel of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the red front I can\u2019t help but think that if we\u2019re eating spring lamb we might want to have a glass of red burgundy with it.
